"Harlan! Is that you?"I turned around and it hardly took even a moment to recognize her. All these difficult years later, she was as exquisite as she was the night we first met.

"Melissa? What on Earth are you doing in D.C.?"

She said she could ask me the same question. Sometimes when she speaks I have trouble following. I'll catch her hazel eyes and all the sudden I'm lost.

"You're not here for... " I asked, waiting to see if she'd finish the sentence for me.

"For the.... " she responded, seeing if I'd do the same.

I looked around the bar. I thought maybe the people she came with would give me some sort of clue, but she appeared to be alone. Fate can be so violent, can't it?

"I'll only be here until tomorrow," I said. "Unless things go well... "

"Or horribly," she said and then laughed. When she smiles nothing else exists.

"So then, I'll be seeing you at the Capitol bright and early?" I finally asked.

"The where?"

I changed the topic as swiftly as I could and excused myself shortly thereafter. When Melissa gets curious, god, there's no stopping her. But she had clearly been compromised by her circle of satanic pedophile young professionals. And with everything that was at stake, I couldn't open my fragile heart to her again.

▶️ AI TikTok is frightening. Somehow, the algorithm knew I wanted to be terrified.

🗞️ BONUS: This website broke the news that an American defense contractor was negotiating to buy NSO, an Israeli hacking company that created and licenses the only software in the world that can hack an iPhone. (Ronan Farrow has been tracking the story, which is insanely interesting). Anyway, that story led me to this website that breaks intelligence industry news, like which cafe Mossad agents are meeting in, and I just think it's super cool.
