Choose! The! Noooooooooooooodle!
One of the things I love about creating shows for television is that you just never know what’s going to hit and what’s going to flop. When we were developing Choose The Noodle, people literally told me, “Who’s going to want to watch a show where people choose between two noodles?” Well. Six seasons in, I think we know the answer to that: Basically everybody.
And yet, you couldn’t believe the mountains we had to scale to get that thing on the air. You have to remember— this was before noodles were considered cool. We had one executive ask us if we’d consider making it a trivia show. I mean, if we had listened to him I’d still be living with my ex-wife and our kids!
Sure, I have nights when I wonder if my work has any real meaning. There are times I question whether I could have used my gifts to maybe write plays, or make movies with a sort of moral message I could transmit to future generations. But, I also know that it's those very same future generations that will sit on their couch after a bad day at work and find comfort in rewatching classics, like "Bowtie or Penne" from Season-2, where Brett from Wyoming went mad from indecision and took the host's life using a plastic bag. And that's enough for me. After all, we're just coasting along on this spinning sphere we call Earth, choosing our noodle in some form or another anyway. Aren't we?
📷 Posters on Instagram by @Woz_art. I know nothing about this person except that I'm obsessed with the posters he (or she?) is making to advertise nothing specific. The design is both a throwback and like nothing I've seen before. They go well with the @rudy_israel aesthetic of "Israelites as indigenous people."
